INSPIRATION
In Greek mythology, Demeter is the most generous of the Olympian goddesses. She is responsible for the fertility of the land.
Demeter, also known as the Roman goddess Ceres, is beloved for giving mankind the gift of the harvest, a just reward for their cultivation of the soil. She is the only Greek goddess involved in the daily lives of common people.
Folklore says that Demeter is uniquely able to empathize with human suffering and grief, having experienced it fully herself. It is during the four months that her daughter must return to the god Hades that Demeter neglects her duties, thus the explanation for winter.
