Cultivating Success

Theresa Boian Miller

Theresa Boian Miller is an associate with Demeter Communications. She brings more than 12 years of experience in managing producer communications and education programs to the Demeter Communications team, as well as provides a unique knowledge of agricultural media relations. Theresa began her career as a farm broadcaster for WDWS-AM in Champaign, Illinois, where she took a fledgling agricultural programming schedule and turned it into a renowned outlet. In 1998, she became the communications manager for the Illinois Soybean Association and Illinois Soybean Checkoff Board, where she managed a $1.5 million/year communications and producer education program that included media relations, producer education, communications materials and online efforts.

Theresa has served as communications specialist for the University of Illinois' College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences Office of International Affairs. This gave her valuable insight into international audiences. Theresa is no stranger to the challenges of production agriculture. She and her husband Alan own and manage a registered Angus farm in Gridley, Illinois.

Random Acts

  • Teresa volunteers as manager of the Illinois Master Showmanship contest, which brings together 45 kids from the county level to compete at the state fair.
  • She particularly enjoys teaching second grade Sunday school at her church and volunteering at her daughter's school.

Brushes with Greatness

  • Theresa interviewed Jeff Foxworthy while she was a reporter (yes, he's funny in person).
  • She personally knew Mickey Mouse and Peter Pan and a whole host of other "characters" – just one benefit of being a Disney World cast member.
